Sonic the Hedgehog 20th Anniversary
Monday, August 01, 2011
Sonic the Hedgehog is a legend who has been around since 1991 when he was first seen on the SEGA Genesis! It is his 20th anniversary and he is still going strong. He is the world's fastest spinning hero who can't be stopped.

To celebrate his anniversary, SEGA is releasing a new game, Sonic Generations, featuring classic Sonic the Hedgehog AND modern day Sonic the Hedgehog characters.

"Sonic’s universe is thrown into chaos when a mysterious new power comes into force, creating ‘time holes’ which take Sonic and his friends back in time. Whilst there, Sonic runs into some very familiar characters from his past including a younger version of himself! Now they must team up to defeat their enemies, save their friends, and find out who is behind this diabolical deed."

Watch the official gameplay trailer from IGN...

Check out the 20th anniversary figures.

Nice and bendable figures, it seems.

Hope Sonic is around for another 20 years!

Sonic Unleashed: New Moves
Tuesday, May 13, 2008
ONM talked with Sonic's lead game designer, Yoshihisa Hashimoto, about Sonic's new moves and more in a recent interview.

On Sonic's new moves...
Three of the new moves include Sonic Boost (by collecting rings, Ring Energy will fill up, which you can use to dash through the course at high speed), Sonic Drift (players will be able to take a short turn at any sharp curves while running through the course) and Quick Step (when running in high speed with an obstacle ahead, players will be able to move left or right rapidly). We'll also have other new actions in the game that will be revealed later.

On why Sonic transforms...
Trapped by Dr. Eggman's evil plan, the powers of the seven chaos emeralds is misused and something changes in Sonic's body. As for what he will be able to do with these new abilities, you will have to look forward to hearing more soon!

Sonic Unleashed will have more in common with the older Sonic Adventure series. It has no relation to Sonic The Hedgehog (the 360/PS3 game) or Sonic And The Secret Rings.

Sonic Unleashed Confirmed by SEGA
After all the rumors and leaked screenshots, videos and artwork, SEGA has put those rumors to rest by officially announcing its next major Sonic the Hedgehog title: Sonic Unleashed. They have their own screenshots and video at their site.

Sonic Unleashed is being developed by Sonic Team, and will be released late this year for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, Playstation 3 and Wii.

Press Release from SEGA...

Having been broken apart by the evil Dr. Eggman, it's up to Sonic to put the pieces of the world back together again by retrieving the power of the chaos emeralds! In doing so, Sonic will find himself in a race against time and faced with an unusual situation that will challenge him in ways never before seen. Both day and night play different, yet important, roles in Sonic's newest quest... as the sun sets, a new adventure awakens. By completing a wide variety of action-packed stages, spanning the seven broken continents of the world, gamers will need to unleash Sonic's amazing abilities to save the world, and himself!

Players will have an opportunity to engage in ways never before done with the Sonic franchise, so in addition to running at high speeds, which will be highlighted in four new speed mechanics, combat fighting now becomes possible. New combat, movement, functional abilities and platforming will be introduced to offer increased depth and variety.

Sonic Unleashed will offer a re-defined experience for fans and newcomers of the franchise alike by combing picturesque & detailed scenery, an expansive world with multiple paths to choose from and dynamic viewpoints for an immersive and renewed gaming atmosphere. Along with seamless 3D to classic 2D camera transitions, the game is built on a powerful, new proprietary "Hedgehog Engine," which introduces impressive lighting abilities and new technology tailor made for Sonic's new speed capabilities. Under development for approximately three years, the Hedgehog Engine will help to produce a visually rich next generation look and feel with elements of classic Sonic gameplay components.

Currently in development by Sonic Team, Sonic Unleashed is scheduled for release worldwide for holiday 2008. For more information on the game, please visit http://www.sega.com/gamesite/sonicunleashed/us/index.php.

Bioware New Sonic RPG Game Title
Tuesday, January 08, 2008
Nintendo Power’s February issue discusses the new Sonic RPG game being developed by Bioware. The cover story, which is 7 pages long, is full of information and screenshots, the magazine covers Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

Sonic Chronicles will be created for the Nintendo DS portable hand held system. Sonic exchanges his signature "speed of sound" for a more narrative experience. Wonder if they got any of their ideas from Sonic RPG EPS online games??

BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka explains why they chose the Nintendo DS over the Wii Entertainment system...

“In some ways, we think that the DS is just more attuned to the style of the game we make at BioWare….With the two screens you can actually show RPG stats and the stuff that’s appropriate for the genre. It enables different types of gameplay; the fact that you can touch the screen, the fact that it has all kinds of other cool capabilities.”

Sonic is officially in Smash Bros Brawl ...YES!!!
Friday, October 12, 2007
Sorry to post this late... been away for a bit!

Anyways, this is the best news I have heard in a loooooooooong time! Can you believe this great news! Sonic the Hedgehog is OFFICIALLY apart of the Super Smash Bros Brawl video game! That is freakin awesome! I can hardly contain my excitement!

Don't believe me??? Check here for yourself: SmashBros.com

The one whose Smash appearance has been most desired dashes in from far away at supersonic speed.

Sonic the Hedgehog crashes headlong into battle!

Sonic: Special Moves

The original Sonic the Hedgehog game used only one button. I think its simple yet exhilarating play was its virtue.

And given that this game’s controls are also simple, I think it personifies his distinct characteristics.

1. Side Special Move: Spin Dash - Hop into a supersonic Spin Dash. If you charge it up just a bit, your speed will increase. It’s also possible to rise up while spinning.

2. Down Special Move: Spin Charge - By holding the Control Stick down and tapping the special-move button, you charge up your spin and do a Spin Dash. This may feel better for some—there’s no pop.

3. Up Special Move: Spring Jump - And his up special move is the Spring Jump. That spring launches you wayyy up in the air.

I gotta have this game!!!!!!!! Now that sonic is in it....it will be one of the best games EVER! Can you tell I'm excited??
